How to Publish Content Without Writing a Word
Writer’s block got you down? Need a little break from publishing blog content, guest blogs and email newsletters?
Content creation is time-intensive and requires effort, yet it is arguably one of the most effective internet marketing strategies for businesses.
If you blog on a regular basis, it’s not a crime to put down the pen from time to time and take a well-deserved break. Unfortunately, Google never takes a break and if you try to tell Google to stop working while you relax…I’m not a gambling woman, but something tells me that won’t go over so well.
Content creation must go on! So to keep your content moving along while you put down your pen, consider these tips:
Supplement
If you desire to become a thought leader, writing original content is crucial, but it does not mean you should shun opportunities to share valuable content authored by other bloggers/marketers. A thought leader not only shares personal value, but also recognizes value in others and shares this content as well.
By simply filtering the good from the bad web content (there is a lot of bad!), you are also acting as an industry leader. Aggregate the best content and share it with your community while you are on a break and in between publishing your own content.
When you return from your writing hiatus, you can continue to share content that is not yours; however, you can make it your own by adding your personal feedback and insight. You can cut down on your content efforts and also continue to provide valuable content for your audience. You will continue to build trust even while you are on a break.
Curation
Curating content is more or less a form of re-publishing. It involves gathering content for a specific purpose, whether from re-posted blogs, whitepapers, news feeds or blogs you follow.
Content curation is more than simply gathering any content you can find and slapping it together to meet your “content quota”.
Take some time to research your industry and hand-pick the highest quality content to dispense to your readers. If the content is valuable, your readers will build trust in you as a source of information.
You can source this content various ways:
- Create “top 10” posts and list your favorite blogs.
- Quote a large piece of copy and add some insight to it. Request feedback from your readers in the comments.
- Start an online content magazine or newspaper
You can use tools and websites like Delicious, Digg, Google Reader and Alltop to find top news articles and Evernote or Netvibes to bookmark and organize your content. I like Netvibes and I use it to organize my top internet marketing blogs. See a screenshot of my account below. Click on the image to see the larger version.
To create an online magazine here are some recommendations:
Two Important Tips to Remember
1. Credit the original source of the copy you are publishing.
2. Content curation should never replace your current content marketing strategy. Use it as a supplement to original content for the purpose of building trust and also giving your brain a much needed break.
