Is Your Blog Making You Insane?

insanityAlbert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

If you have been blogging for a long time but you are not experiencing a boost in profit, you are headed toward the threshold of insanity if you haven’t already crossed it.

Aside from applying some new strategies, it may be time to examine your current methods and goals to see where adjustment is needed. Sometimes bloggers get stuck in a rut of publishing post after post expecting some more interaction or at least two to three more visitors than the previous week. When this doesn’t happen, insanity can set in.

Stop the Insanity!

First…Relax, Relate, Release…It’s time to do something different and examine your blog from an elevated perspective.

You need purpose.

Insanity swallows up purpose like a hungry snake gulps a mouse down its throat.

Revitalize your purpose.

Who are you and why did you start your blog?  Why is your blog unique? If potential readers asked you to tell them in 10 seconds or less why you want them to visit your blog, what would you tell them?

Tip 1: It’s important to take money out of the equation because a on only earning money will dilute your overall message. This ideology will spill over into every element of your blog without you even realizing it.

Money is an essential and welcomed byproduct of your blog’s overall purpose. But, it should not become the main focus because your readers will feel it.

Tip 2: Your own fears can make you insane and lock you into a viscous cycle. You must find a unique voice amidst all of your competitors. Glean from your competitors for inspiration, but don’t copy them. You have everything you need inside you to become a leader.

Strategy

Once you re-connect with your purpose, devise a strategy based on that purpose. Work smarter, instead of harder. Infuse your blog design and post with that revitalized purpose. Make every move strategic, from every comment, to every design change.

When you sit down to write a new blog post, don’t just pen what you think your readers want. Consider your purpose and intention first. When you reflect on these ideas, your writing will automatically take on a life of its own because you will be creating from an illuminated mindset.

Eventually, you will reach your goals because you stayed true to your purpose and carved out a unique perspective for your industry.

Here are some other blog issues that will contribute to insanity:

Too much advertising – Ads can turn away readers because they will not see you as authentic. A few ads is permissible especially if you recommend services but an excess raises a red flag

Lack of genuine content – It doesn’t matter if you stink at writing; authenticity is more important. Avoid copying or rewriting content. Use resources for inspiration and ideas, but write from your unique perspective. If readers see your content elsewhere they will go elsewhere to read it.

No consistency – Whether you blog 5 times a day or 2 times a week, stay regular with your updates. You readers will start to expect content and when it falters you can lose their readership. If you need to take a break, write a post about it. Be candid and establish a relationship with your readers. You don’t have to be perfect; you just need to be real and authentic.

So whenever you feel like you are going insane, just regroup and re-define your purpose. Breathe life into your blog and it will breathe life back into you.
